Section Hike No.13

A Day Hike Following the Blessings of Forest and Water Down to the Countryside

Starting from the mystical blue waters of Kaminokoike Pond, the route leads through the forest. As you emerge from the woods and approach the Midori settlement, the landscape gradually begins to show signs of everyday life.

Continuing on, you will reach Sakura-no-taki Falls, known for the cherry salmon that swim upstream here. Along the way, water flowing through the forest becomes rivers, connecting the lives of fish and people.

The route then continues toward Sattsuru, passing broad fields and pastures before finishing at JR Sattsuru Station. From the clear waters of Kaminokoike Pond to the forest, rivers, and countryside, this course offers a sense of the natural cycle that connects water, wildlife, and human life.

Route Map

Eastern Hokkaido is home to wild animals and human activity in a harsh natural environment. On the Hokkaido East Trail, you can enjoy hiking while experiencing nature and the lives of local people. However, it is essential to prepare for and deal with risks such as encounters with wild animals and sudden changes in weather, as well as be considerate of local people. Also, when hiking long trails, safety is fundamentally your own responsibility. Be sure to gather sufficient information in advance and make a solid plan before hiking. For more information, please see the official Hokkaido East Trail website below.
