Section Hike No.15

A Day Hike Following the Blessings of Mt. Shari and the Prayers of the Countryside

Starting from JR Kiyosato-cho Station, the route leaves the town behind and enters the rural landscape stretching across the foothills of Mt. Shari. At Raiun Shrine, experience the clear spring water nurtured by Mt. Shari and discover the connection between the mountain and the lives of the local community.

Continue through fields and shelterbelts to Koshikawa Shrine, a place deeply rooted in the local community. Along the way, the landscape reflects the history of settlement and agriculture that has shaped this part of Eastern Hokkaido.

The route then enters the Shuen settlement and finishes at the Shuen Post Office Bus Stop. This course traces the lives and prayers of people who have long lived with the blessings of the mountain.

Route Map

Eastern Hokkaido is home to wild animals and human activity in a harsh natural environment. On the Hokkaido East Trail, you can enjoy hiking while experiencing nature and the lives of local people. However, it is essential to prepare for and deal with risks such as encounters with wild animals and sudden changes in weather, as well as be considerate of local people. Also, when hiking long trails, safety is fundamentally your own responsibility. Be sure to gather sufficient information in advance and make a solid plan before hiking. For more information, please see the official Hokkaido East Trail website below.
