Wetland Course
A day trip using the JR Senmo Line to experience the marshland from various angles
This is a day trip course that allows you to experience the vastness of the Kushiro Wetlands through rail and walking. Starting from Toya Station, you will gradually enter the forest, where the presence of wild animals becomes more apparent. The occasional glimpse of the city and marshland will surprise you with how close the vast Kushiro Wetlands are to the city. The highlight of this course is the Hosooka Observatory, which offers a panoramic view of the Kushiro Wetlands. Learn about the origins of the Kushiro Wetlands at the Hosooka Visitors Lounge, before heading home from Kushiro Wetlands Station. The view from the train window is the perfect way to end the day.
Eastern Hokkaido is home to wild animals and human activity in a harsh natural environment. On the Hokkaido East Trail, you can enjoy hiking while experiencing nature and the lives of local people.
