Mt. Shari Foothills Course
A two-day, one-night course using the JR Senmo Line, walking along the foot of the vast Mount Shari and enjoying a distant view of the Sea of Okhotsk
This is a two-day, one-night course that takes you through vast farmland while admiring the solitary peak of Mount Shari. On the first day, you'll start from Nakashari Station and head to Raiun Shrine, where spring water springs up, while admiring the vast fields and Mount Shari. In autumn, salmon swim upstream in the river that flows from Mount Shari. On the second day, head to Hoshikaze no Oka, where you can see Mount Shari and the Sea of Okhotsk. The view from Hoshikaze no Oka is breathtaking. Continue through the farmland and finish at Satsugen Station. There are also hot spring facilities in the area, making it the perfect place to end your trip.
Eastern Hokkaido is home to wild animals and human activity in a harsh natural environment. On the Hokkaido East Trail, you can enjoy hiking while experiencing nature and the lives of local people. However, it is essential to prepare for and deal with risks such as encounters with wild animals and sudden changes in weather, as well as be considerate of local people.
